About

The Sacramento Central Groundwater Authority (SCGA) is the designated Groundwater Sustainability Agency for the South American Subbasin (SASb) under California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Formed through a Joint Powers Agreement, SCGA brings together a broad coalition of public agencies, agricultural interests, water providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate regional groundwater management. This section provides an overview of SCGA’s purpose, history, service area, and governance framework, including information about our Board of Directors and staff. Together, we are working to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of a critical natural resource—groundwater.
